COMMUNITY SHRED DAY

Roxboro Savings Bank, Person County’s only locally owned and operated community bank, will host a Community Shred Day on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at its 313 South Main Street location from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm. This “Shred Day” will be combined with a canned food drive to benefit the Christian Help Center & The Food Pantry and a pet supply drive to benefit the Person County Animal Shelter.

Individuals are invited to bring up to four (4) boxes or 100 pounds of paper (bank statements, old tax returns, etc.) to be shredded on site by Shred-it, the shredding company that currently services Roxboro Savings Bank. “This is a great opportunity for our citizens and customers to get rid of personal papers in a secure environment to help protect them from sensitive private information being stolen or misused,” says Roxboro Savings Bank Executive Vice President and CEO Jane D. Long.

In an effort to further help in our community, the Bank is asking for a donation of canned food items and/or pet supplies to benefit the Christian Help Center, The Food Pantry and the Person County Animal Shelter. Items of particular need are: Canned meats (Spam, Treet, potted meat, tuna, Vienna sausage, corned beef), jellies and jams, non-perishables, dog collars, dog leashes, cat litter, old or used towels (for pet bedding). Patrons of the Shred Day may utilize drive-through service and have their materials unloaded by Roxboro Savings Bank employees or bring them up to the shred truck themselves.

This community shred event is open to individuals only and no business materials will be accepted. Also, materials can only be accepted during the Saturday shred event times and not at any other time at the bank for security reasons. “We are excited to be able to provide a vital community service to our citizens to help protect themselves and assist some of our exceptional charitable organizations at the same time,” says Long. “It is our hope that if this first Shred Day is a success, we will make it into an annual event every spring.” For more information, please call (336) 599-2137.
